From The Armada Quarterdeck, Vol. 6

Conway, SC- This past week was a remarkable snapshot of what ACA Athletics is all about, celebrating character, developing student leaders, honoring past achievements, and competing at the highest levels across all our programs.

One of the most rewarding aspects of leading an athletic department is seeing our vision transition into real, daily culture. Seeing our Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) gather for their second leadership workshop and officially launching our Athlete Recognition Framework has been a true highlight. Our coaches and student-athletes continue to raise the standard every single week, both in competition and in how they represent Atlantic Collegiate Academy across the community.

The Deck Log: Inside Armada Athletics

  • Boys Golf Receives 2A State Championship Rings: We celebrated our Boys Golf team with a brief photo opportunity as they officially received their Class 2A State Championship rings! This group is loaded with talent once again and will certainly be listed among the top favorites as we build toward competing for a 3A State Championship this season.
  •  Soccer Program Leadership Anchored: Offers have officially been accepted for both our Head Boys Soccer Coach and Head Girls Soccer Coach positions! Stay tuned for official announcements introducing both leaders to our Armada family in the near future.
  • Head Golf Coach Search Underway: Our Head Golf Coach opening has generated substantial interest from across the region. We are excited to begin hosting top candidates on campus for interviews this upcoming week to find the right leader for the program.
  • Inaugural Athlete Recognition Honors: We are thrilled to celebrate our first cohort of student-athlete honorees across the department:
    • Athlete of the Month: Terrance Blackmon, recognized for his relentless work ethic and dedication to Armada Football during summer conditioning.
    • Athlete of the Week (Week 1): Sierra Roberts, honored following her standout performance and All-Tournament Team selection at the Porter- Gaud Tournament.
    • Athlete of the Week (Week 2): Ja'Yonna Howell, recognized for her exceptional team-first leadership, grace, and selfless dedication as a student athletic trainer assisting our sports medicine staff.
  • Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Leadership Session: SAAC held its second official meeting, focusing on core leadership development. A huge shoutout to Coach Santuan and Coach Mikey for organizing impactful sessions and bringing in expert guest speakers from the field to share their insights with our student leaders.
  • Girls Golf Charges Ahead: The team put together another impressive week on the links, securing a 3rd-place finish at the Ft. Jackson Cavalier Classic in Columbia before earning a decisive 9-hole match victory over Aynor High School at Diamondback Golf Club.
  • Volleyball Earns Statement Win Over Ranked Foe: Following a big road win against Crestwood High School, the Armada returned home and delivered a dominant 3-0 sweep against previously undefeated and #4-ranked Hartsville High School! Credit to Coach Church and her staff for designing a rigorous schedule that has our squad battle-tested for top-tier competition.
  • Football Battles & Administrative Collaboration: Hosted Loris High School in a highly anticipated matchup at Ashley Booth Field. While our team fought hard in a tough battle, we extend a special hat-tip to Loris Athletic Director and both administrative teams for collaborating on site prep and safety procedures to ensure a fantastic atmosphere for both communities.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Armada Athletics. Go Armada!
