The following statement is from Tim Huber, Sports Tourism Director for the City of Myrtle Beach, regarding the decision to move our previously scheduled ACA Football game from Doug Shaw Stadium to Ashley Booth at 1:00 PM tomorrow:
"The City of Myrtle Beach, which jointly owns Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium with Horry County Schools, has agreed to honor a request from Myrtle Beach High School regarding the stadium's use. High school athletic activities are only permitted inside the stadium if they are a Myrtle Beach High School athletic activity or related to a sports tourism event.
The city recognizes this decision may require adjustments to existing plans and remains committed to supporting local student-athletes and providing quality athletic experiences. The city will continue to make other city-owned athletic facilities, including Ashley Booth Field, available for high school sporting events, consistent with its longstanding support of youth and high school athletics."
