Armada Girls Golf Earns Pair of Wins

Florence, SC – The Atlantic Collegiate Academy girls golf team made a trip to Florence Country Club on Tuesday to play a nine-hole match against the teams from Trinity Collegiate and Laurence Manning High.

The Armada took care of business, posting a team score of 171 to easily defeat both opponents. Trinity finished the match with a score of 188 while Manning posted a 201.

"Our girls went in there focused and their play proved it," ACA golf coach Bailey Paske said. "We played better by 15 shots than we did in our last match, and I couldn't be prouder."

The Armada was led by senior Hannah Lowery, who posted the low score of the day with a one-over par 36.

In addition to Lowery, sophomore Clara Beth Brady posted a score of 41, freshman Bella Stroup had a 45 and senior Avery Zygo finished with a 49.

While the ACA team will get the weekend off this week, Lowery will be in individual competition in Hilton Head at Moss Creek Golf Club. The event is the Women's South Carolina Golf Association (WSCGA) Vicki Hillen Junior Golf Foundation 2024 High School Girls Invitational & Mentoring Weekend, hosted by LPGA Golfer Rosie Jones.

"Hannah is well-deserving on the invite to Hilton Head this weekend where she will compete with some of the best players in South Carolina," Paske said.

Lowery was one of 10 individual players invited to compete along with 15 high school teams. Tee times for the opening round of competition on Saturday is scheduled for 10 a.m., with players starting play at both the first and 10th tees. Lowery will be in the first group starting play on the back nine.

Live online scoring will be available throughout the two days of the tournament.

Following the weekend off for the rest of the Armada, ACA will be back in action on Tuesday, October 8, against Georgetown High at the Wedgefield Golf Club.

"I know the team will be excited to get back out as a team, especially with the state tournament only a month away," Paske said.
