Conway, SC - Things are continuing to move fast as we head into the official start of Year Two of Armada Athletics!
 
NOTICE: All athletics practices and workouts have been canceled for Wednesday and Thursday this week because of Tropical Storm Debby. A determination will be made about the football scrimmage scheduled at Marlboro County High in Bennettsville within the next two days.
 
The season officially kicked off last Friday. August 2 is the date the SCHSL allows fall sport tryouts to begin. As we worked toward that start date, there was a lot of movement on Bear Bluff Road. The biggest news of the week came as our weight room install was completed thanks to the hard work from the wonderful people at Williams Strength!
 
Take a look at the awesome equipment. We cannot wait to get the students in there and see them working hard!
 
The ACA Athletic Department is seeking students who want to gain experience working in social media content creation for the various Armada teams. If you're interested in learning more about this, please email AD William Payne and explain why you are a good fit for this role. Please include any experience in social media content creation you may have.
 
Now, a reminder of the steps for ACA students to participate in SCHSL athletics at their zoned school if ACA does not offer a sanctioned sport. You MUST get the HCS Charter School Participation Form, have it signed by either AD Payne or Principal Lorenz, and then submit the completed form to your zoned school. You CANNOT play at your zoned school without this completed form, and you CANNOT participate in any sport at your zoned school if ACA offers that sport in any official capacity; be it varsity, junior varsity, team or individual.
 
There have been some changes to the Atlantic Collegiate Academy Student-Athlete Participation contract this year. All parents and students are highly encouraged to read the participation contract thoroughly and completely prior to signing. It is binding for participation in ACA athletics. If there are any questions, please contact AD Payne.
 
NO STUDENT WILL BE PERMITTED TO TRYOUT FOR ANY ACA TEAM WITHOUT HAVING THEIR BIG TEAMS PROFILE SETUP AND COMPLETE AND BEING REGISTERED AS A STUDENT AT ACA. THIS INCLUDES ALL PRE-PARTICIPATION FORMS AND PHYSICAL. IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH UPLOADING FORMS PLEASE LET YOUR COACH KNOW ASAP.
 
ACA will, unfortunately, not be officially offering Cross Country for the 2024-25 academic year. This is in large part due to the inability to have a location to host regional meets. We will, however, offer a "Conditioning Club" that will operate with daily practices, intra-club competitions and all students will receive uniforms for this club.
 
As an incentive, all who participate this year will automatically make the official Cross Country team for the 2025-26 school year AND the participants will assist with the creation and naming of the school's course. The Conditioning Club is being coached by AD Payne and will hold a meeting once school officially starts, so be on the lookout for that information.
 
Any student wishing to participate at their home-zoned school in Cross Country will be eligible to do so but cannot participate in both.
 
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR ALL PLAYERS AND PARENTS TO KNOW THE NEW SCHOOL BUILDING IS NOT CURRENTLY OPEN. NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO ENTER THE BUILDING AT ANY POINT UNTIL AFTER THE FINAL INSPECTION IS COMPLETED. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THIS WILL LEAD TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION FROM THE SCHOOL.
 
If you are an ACA student-athlete, or hope to become one this year, and you haven't completed our online biographical questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible. If you completed the form last year, you DO NOT need to complete it again unless there have been changes you want to include.
