Myrtle Beach, SC - The Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada baseball team was unable to keep pace with the Clinton Red Devils on Tuesday evening, falling 5-1 in the opening game of the best of three series for the SCHSL Class AA championship.

The Armada will face a must win situation on Friday in game two of the series, which is scheduled to be played in Clinton at 3 p.m.

The Armada took an early lead when Blandyn Miller singled in a run in the bottom of the first inning.

Clinton came back with a pair of runs on a single by Logan Johnson in the top of the second. The Red Devils pushed their lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning when Camden Finley hit a solo home run to center field.

Eli Chowning opened the game on the mound for ACA, surrendering four hits and five runs, but only one earned, while going the full seven innings. He struck out five and did not allow a walk. Camden Finley started and earned the victory for Clinton, allowing just two hits and one run over six innings, while striking out eight and walking five.

Gavin Street and Miller each had one hit for the Armada, which collected six walks. 

Logan Johnson, the number nine hitter for Clinton, led the way with two RBI. William Addison, Tanner Finley, Finley and Logan Johnson each collected one hit for the Red Devils.
