Turbeville, SC – The Atlantic Collegiate Academy varsity volleyball team continues its winning ways on Thursday night, cruising past East Clarendon in straight sets as the Armada won its 12
th consecutive match.
ACA jumped on the host Wolverines from the start, winning the opening set 25-7. East Clarendon showed some fight in the second set, pushing the Armada before ACA closed out for a 25-19 victory. With a 2-0 lead, the result was never in doubt in the third set, as ACA clinched the match with a 25-14 victory.
With the win, Atlantic Collegiate improved to 13-2-2 overall, including a perfect 5-0 record in Region 7-AA play. The Armada has moved up in the MaxPreps Class AA rankings to fourth in the state.
Before the ACA varsity posted its win, the Armada JV posted its fourth consecutive victory, topping the Wolverines 2-0 with identical set scores of 25-10.

Reese Feldman powered the offensive attack with 10 kills. Senior
Ella Handley (five kills and five service aces) and junior
Ava Reyes (five kills and two solo blocks) were also major contributors.
The JV squad had its best outing of the year in improving to 4-1 on the season. The Armada had a total of 22 kills in the match and made just four errors as a team. Freshman middle hitter
Jasmine Dixon led the way with five kills while freshman outside hitter
Sophia Pimentel was credited with four kills and five service aces.
"This was the cleanest volleyball we have played this year," JV coach Justin Stack said. "Our ladies played with a better understanding of our transition offense and applied what we worked on in practice."
The Armada varsity will put its win streak on the line this weekend at the Iron Horse Invitational, hosted by Philip Simmons High in Charleston. The first of two round robin pool play sessions will be held tonight with ACA facing Hedgesville High from West Virginia at 5:15 p.m., James Island Charter at 6 p.m. and Porter-Gaud High at 6:45 p.m.
Teams will be reset into pools based on results tonight for another round of pool play beginning on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Three divisions of championship play will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions. Tournament matches will be played at both PSHD and Philip Simmons Middle School.
The Armada junior varsity is scheduled to return to action next week when both teams host Kingstree (Sept. 24) and Mullins (Sept. 26) in region competition.
