Armada Seniors Named to All-State Team

Conway, SC – The Armada Volleyball program closed out the regular season last Thursday by winning a regional doubleheader at Kingstree.

Senior standouts Reese Feldman and Ella Handley were both selected to the prestigious North/South All-Star game that will take place at Brookland-Cayce High School on November 22-23. That event is hosted by the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association.

"I am so excited for both of our seniors to represent our school in the all-star game," coach Larry Church said. "It's great to see all their hard work and commitment to the game be recognized, not just on a local level but at the state level as well. They are truly deserving of this honor".

In addition to this, both Reese and Ella were named to the All-State team yesterday.

"This is monumental for ACA as a school, athletic department and volleyball program," Director of Athletics William Payne said. "I am extremely proud of Ella and Reese and they are so deserving of the recognition they are receiving. They are trailblazers for this school and are perfect representations of what we want our ACA student-athlete to be. These two young ladies have etched their names in ACA history books."

The volleyball team will now wait for the SCHSL playoffs. ACA will be hosting the first three rounds if they continue to win all their matches to get to that point. The match dates are October 31, November 5 and November 7. Please come out and support the ACA Armada Volleyball team as they attempt to make a run in the playoffs in just our first year of eligibility.

Girls Golf

Girls Golf is awaiting the start of the SCHSL State tournament, which will take place in Richburg on October 28-29, with tee times set for 9:30 a.m. both days. The state tournament is a combination tournament for the SCHSL A and AA classifications. The host school is Lewisville High School and will take place at the Chester Golf Club, located at 770 Old Richburg Road, in Chester.

Senior standout Hannah Goodman was selected to the North/South event for Girls Golf but has elected to not participate.

Football

Football was on the road again last week matched up against the leader in Region 7-AA, Manning High School. The Armada got off to a slow start and the Monarchs capitalized early by scoring multiple touchdowns in the first quarter. ACA found themselves in a huge deficit, 42-0, by halftime. While the Armada were able to get a bit of offense going in the second half, it was just too little too late as Manning walked away with the win, 49-10. The playoff picture is still very jumbled in Region 7AA and ACA is in a unique position of still qualifying for the playoffs if they were to win the next two games. They could also still qualify by splitting the next two, but that would require some help from regional opponents losing.

UP THIS WEEK: At East Clarendon High School, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Girls Tennis

Girls Tennis is still awaiting the decision of if they will be an at-large team for the upcoming 2A playoffs. This decision will be made on October 29 and would leave ACA very little time to get prepared for their first match.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy will hold an athletic "Recruiting Seminar" for all ACA students and their families on October 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the ACA Gym. This is open to ALL ACA students that want to explore participating in athletics at the collegiate level. Athletics Director William Payne will be hosting the event. Please email him at wpayne@acaarmada.org of you plan to attend.

Boys Basketball will hold tryouts for the varsity and junior varsity on November 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and November 5 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the ACA Gym. Players MUST attend tryouts to make the team. There will not be any makeup dates for these tryouts. There will only be two teams this year (varsity and one junior varsity) so attendance is extremely important due to the large number of expected students who want to try out. If you have any questions, please contact AD Payne.

REMINDER: ALL ACA ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO PAY A $75 SPORTS FEE PRIOR TO PLAYING IN AN OFFICIAL CONTEST. PLEASE ASK YOUR COACH IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

If you are an ACA student-athlete, or hope to become one this year, and you haven't completed our online biographical questionnaire, please do so as soon as possible. If you completed the form last year, you DO NOT need to complete it again unless there have been changes that you want to include.

THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL AND IS GOING TO BE REQUIRED GOING FORWARD.
