Conway, SC – I hope everyone had a great weekend and your favorite team advanced to the Final Four.
Last week we had some fun with our own March Madness as the ACA students and staff held our own basketball tournament. Throughout the week the classes played against each other and, on Friday, the ACA staff played against the winners of the student tournament.
It seems as if the future is bright at ACA because the 10th grade class won the student tournament and faced off against the faculty on Friday. The were apparently some ringers playing for the Facility team, which came out victorious. It was all a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed playing.

Last week, on Tuesday, we had our first true night game at ACA with the soccer teams playing under the lights at ACA. It was really cool to see this all coming together.
Attendance
It is important to understand each student gets only 10 parents' notes and five unexcused absences each year. After that they will have to make up time for missing school. Please make sure you submit your parents' notes to
Mary VonCannon.
Parent Visitors
Parents as well as all other visitors during the school day at ACA must check in with Ms. VonCannon at the front desk before entering the main school building.
Win Test and Flex
The WIN test (South Carolina Career Readiness Test) is a career readiness test administered to all 11th grade students to measure the most common skills employers define as foundational for career readiness. Students are assessed in four key areas: Math, Reading, Data Assessment and Soft Skills. ACA will be giving the WIN test on April 11 at 8 a.m. for morning students and 12 p.m. for afternoon students. The test is mandatory for all juniors and if your child doesn't take the test we must document that fact with the state.
Dress Code
This happens at every school across the country - when the weather gets nice, students forget the dress code and fail to dress appropriately for school. Please support us and help us make sure your students come to school in compliance with out dress code. If a student is out of dress code, we ask them to fix their apparel to meed the code and, if they are unable to do so, we will have them change into our school shorts and t-shirts that we have for this. If a student refuses to be in dress code, we will call you to bring them clothes that follow our code or we will write them up for refusing to obey.
The purpose of the ACA dress code is to foster a professional, safe and respectful environment at school. The dress code is in effect from the time students arrive at school until they leave. Note that students must be in dress code before school begins if they enter the building before the official start of school. The dress code applies to field trips, site visits, academic internships, athletic practices, and other school-related activities, unless the supervising adult informs the students otherwise.
