Mt. Pleasant, SC – The Atlantic Collegiate Academy volleyball team took a road trip down the coast to face sister school Oceanside Collegiate Academy on Wednesday, and the Armada came away with lessons they can use as they move forward in the loss to Landsharks
ACA is now 1-1 on the young season while OCA improved to 3-3.
"We put pressure on them early in the match, but they are a well-coached team, and they played consistently," Armada coach
Larry Church said. "We learned a lot of the things we need to work on going forward."
The Landsharks outlasted the Armada in a back-and-forth opening set, winning by a score of 25-20. ACA continued to apply pressure in the second set, falling by a 25-14 margin before dropping the match in a 25-18 loss in the third set.

Reese Feldman and
Ella Handley led the way to the win with seven kills each. Junior setter
Kylie Jones gave the Armada plenty of chances with 15 assists.
The Armada will travel to Lexington this weekend to play in the Northside Christian Tournament. ACA is schedule to play four matches on Saturday in pool play, with the top two teams from each pool moving into bracket play on Sunday. The Armada opens the tournament at 9:15 a.m. against the host team from Northside. That match will be followed with matches against AC Flora (10:45 a.m.), White Knoll (12:15 p.m.) and Trinity Collegiate Academy (2:30 p.m.).
Sunday's schedule will be set following play on Saturday.
The Armada will host their first home match at "The Flight Deck" in Conway on September 10, when Region 7-AA foe Marion High visits. That match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
"We are excited to have our first opportunity to play in front of a home crowd in our new gym," Church said. "I hope we have a large turnout to see these young ladies compete."
The Landsharks will be back in action in Region 6AAA play on September 10 when they host Hanahan High at the OCA Gym at 6:30 p.m.
