Conway, SC - It was a week for the history books at ACA when the girls golf team became the first team in Atlantic Collegiate history to participate in a SCHSL state tournament. The Armada came into the event having had a successful but short first season and were averaging one of the five lowest team scores on the season of all of the participating schools. 

Along with a State Runner-Up trophy, ACA also finished with three participants as All-State members. Senior Hannah Lowery, who was also the individual state runner-up, sophomore Clara Brady, and Freshman Bella Stroupe, who was the only freshmen on the all-state list.

Girls Tennis 

Girls Tennis was awarded an at-large bid to the SCHSL A/AA combined state tournament; as they finished second in Region 7 AA. This will set up a match this afternoon with Johnsonville High School as the Armada travels to play for a spot in the next round of the playoffs by winning on the road. The match starts at 5:30 p.m. We also received word that Katie Godfree is the Region 7AA Player of The Year and will receive an automatic bid to the SCHSL Singles Tournament in November at the Cayce Tennis Center in Cayce, SC. 

Volleyball 

The Armada will host Chesterfield High School at ACA in the Flight Deck this evening at 6 p.m. as the first round of the SCHSL Girls Volleyball playoffs get underway. This marks the first time in ACA history the Armada will host an SCHSL Playoff game. Come out and be a part of history and support the volleyball team. 

We will also be holding a fundraising event for a local first grader who is battling leukemia. His name is Atticus Hampton and is the son of Catherine (Principal at Burgess Elementary) and Ben (Head Football Coach at Socastee High School).                                                

Football

Football was on the road again last week at Region 7AA opponent East Clarendon in Turbeville, SC. While the Armada found themselves on the losing end of the game, there were several bright spots and reasons for optimism. 

ACA was able to force multiple turnovers and had multiple drives deep into Wolverines territory in both halves of the game. This loss did officially eliminate ACA from playoff contention but the future is getting brighter as the bulk of this extremely young team will be returning for next season. 

UP THIS WEEK: Homecoming v. Kingstree High at Brooks Stadium, Friday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m.                          

Boys Basketball will hold tryouts for the varsity and junior varsity on November 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and November 5 from 9:30-11:30 a.m., in the ACA Gym. Students MUST attend tryouts to make the team. There will not be any makeup dates for these tryouts. There will only be two teams this year (varsity and one junior varsity) so attendance is extremely important due to the large number of expected students that want to try out.
