Kevin Weidner serves as the Head Girls Soccer Coach at Atlantic Collegiate Academy, bringing nearly 40 years of involvement in the sport and extensive coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, club and elite academy levels.

Kevin Weidner familyA native of Reading, Pennsylvania, Weidner attended Exeter Township Senior High School, where he competed in soccer, basketball and tennis. A lifelong competitor, he developed a passion for soccer at an early age and originally dreamed of becoming a professional player. His path eventually led him into coaching, where teaching the game and developing young athletes became his calling.

Weidner has accumulated 114 victories as a high school varsity coach, with a résumé that includes multiple state playoff appearances and a run to the state finals. His experience also includes serving as a collegiate head coach and holding technical leadership positions within elite club environments and the New York Red Bulls academy system. He holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma.

Some of his favorite coaching accomplishments have been personal ones. Weidner won club state championships while coaching teams featuring both his daughter and his son, with those teams earning the opportunity to advance to regional competition.

At ACA, Weidner's coaching philosophy extends beyond wins and losses. He emphasizes technical development and tactical understanding while creating a competitive environment built around discipline, accountability, relationships and high expectations.

“I find soccer coaching extremely rewarding because I love teaching the game and watching players develop both their skills and their understanding of soccer,” Weidner said. “Most importantly, I enjoy being around the kids, building relationships with them, and having the opportunity to make a positive impact on their development both on and off the field.”

Kevin and Hannah WeidnerWeidner was drawn to Atlantic Collegiate Academy by its commitment to combining high-level academics and athletics within a college-preparatory environment. His goal is to develop a competitive girls soccer program while helping Armada student-athletes prepare for success beyond high school.

Away from soccer, Weidner works in sales in the home foundation repair industry. He and his wife, Angie, have been married for 23 years and have two children, Hannah and Owen. Hannah plays collegiate soccer at Southern Wesleyan University and plans to pursue a career as a physician assistant. Owen is a high school senior who plans to pursue a career in HVAC.

The Weidners enjoy traveling together and have two dogs, Emma and Miley. Kevin's first trip to Europe came during his junior year of high school, when he spent two weeks in France, and he has since traveled to Europe approximately 20 times.

His musical favorites include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Tom Petty, and one short phrase captures the competitive spirit he brings to the pitch:

“Winning never gets old.”
