A native of Tampa, Fla., Jennifer Scalzitti serves as a member of the Atlantic Collegiate Academy School Board.
The daughter of educators and educational administrators, Scalzitti attended South Broward High in Hollywood, Fla., where she was active in the band, serving as drum major during her senior year, and cheerleading in addition to playing water polo.
After high school she attended Florida International University in Miami, earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. She began her professional career providing pediatric physical therapy in out-patient clinics and in-patient rehab as well as in developmental preschools, home health setting and in an adult day training program.
She continued her own education by receiving certification in hippotherapy and aquatic therapy services. She joined her alma mater as an adjunct professor and faculty research assistant in 2001.
One of the most rewarding experiences of her career was serving as a physical therapist on a mission trip to Nicaragua where she helped equip and train local caregivers and therapists on the use of hippotherapy for children with disabilities.
She and her husband, Terry Scalzitti, relocated to the Myrtle Beach area when he became the lead pastor at Ocean View Church. Their son, Connor, is a junior at Carolina Forest High and is active on the baseball team.
