Charlie Soto grew up in El Paso, Texas, the son of two lifelong educators, one a high school coach. Their example gave him a deep appreciation for the dedication of teachers and coaches, as well as an understanding of the challenges they face. He understands that every student is different, with unique strengths, needs, and circumstances. Charlie believes parents and students should have meaningful choices when it comes to finding the educational environment that best helps each child thrive.
Charlie’s high school wrestling career led him to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he competed on the university’s NCAA Division I wrestling team. His experience as an athlete shaped his belief that competitive sports and great coaches can play a powerful role in helping young people develop discipline, confidence, character, and the ability to overcome adversity. He believes these lessons can have a lasting impact far beyond the playing field.
Professionally, Charlie is a Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor at Merrill, where he has spent more than 20 years helping families, business owners, and professionals make thoughtful, confident decisions that strengthen their financial futures. Charlie and his team have been recognized by Forbes as a Best-in-State Wealth Management Team for four consecutive years (2023–2026), reflecting their commitment to excellence, integrity, and trusted leadership.
In the community, Charlie has invested hundreds of hours on local wrestling mats, coaching young athletes at area high schools and clubs and traveling with teams. He also serves on the Board of Grand Strand Youth Hockey and has served as a Regional Leader for F3 Grand Strand (Fitness, Fellowship, Faith). He is a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand Class XXXIX and subsequently served on its Board of Regents. In 2022, he graduated from the FBI Columbia Citizens Academy – Myrtle Beach.
Charlie’s Catholic faith is central to how he approaches his family, community, and service to others. He currently serves as Commander of the St. Andrew Catholic Church Chapter of Fraternus, where he leads a multigenerational group of men and young men focused on developing virtue, character, and strong relationships.
Charlie is honored to serve on the school board and looks forward to supporting the school’s mission, its teachers and coaches, and—most importantly—the students and families who make up its community.
