Lake City, SC – The Atlantic Collegiate Academy volleyball team continued its march toward the post-season on Tuesday with a straight sets victory over Lake City Early College High.
The Armada dominated the varsity match, sweeping the Panthers 25-9, 25-13 and 25-12. ACA improved to 18-8-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in Region 7-AA play. The ACA junior varsity squad turned in an equally impressive performance, downing Lake City 2-0, taking both sets by the score of 25-5.
The ACA varsity was led in their performance by sophomore
Lane Skinner and junior
Savina Pimentel with six kills each. Sophomore
Elle Lorenz had four kills and a solo block to aid the effort while junior
Katie McMullin had five kills. On the back side, junior libero
Addison Autry was credited with 16 digs in the match.
The Armada also had a strong service game in the match with junior
Allison Martin, Autry and Pimentel recording three aces each. Junior
Kathryn Delea and senior
Ella Handley were credited with eight digs each.
It the junior varsity match it was freshman
Simone Frederick who led the way for the Armada with six service aces. Freshman
Ava Holland added four aces while freshman
Jasmine Dixon recorded five kills.
Both teams will return to action on Thursday night when they host Manning at "The Flight Deck". The JV match is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start with the varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
The ACA varsity will be back in tournament action this Saturday when the Armada travels to Columbia to play in the Cardinal Newman Tournament.
